Alster Entertainment's
tips for selecting your wedding music
Use these guidelines when planning your Colorado wedding and for selecting
the music for your special day.
- Have your location, date, and time of ceremony and reception planned
prior to calling a music professional. ( these 3 items may effect pricing!)
- For Ceremonies.- is it ouside or inside? How many people will
be attending? A string quartet can be overkill in a small room with
less than 30 people attending.
- A Morning wedding has a much better chance of not being Rained
Out!
- Variety bands are the most expensive thing you can do. D.J.'s
are the least expensive for reception music.
- The 3 main reasons to hire a DJ over a band,
1. Cost is considerably
less,
2. volume of music is most easily controlled and
3. Music selections
are virtually unlimited in variety. BUT dont give the DJ a list of
every song you want played throughtout the entire reception. (Your
guests will have a variety of tastes and requests that the DJ should
have flexibility to play.)
- Live Music will usually make the reception more memorable
- Never hire a relative to DJ or play at the reception! they'll
back out at the last minute every time!
- For a high altitude wedding, a 3 to 4 hr reception is a long time.
1 alcoholic drink at high altitude is equal to 2 drinks at low altitude.
Guests will tire out more quickly.
- Include a map to the ceremony and reception locations with each
invitation.
- DONT PANIC- plan a year in advance and you will generally have
your choice of all vendors and locations.
