Tommy Shreve Bio

Tommy Shreve was born and raised in Lake Charles, Louisiana in a household that loved music. He was hooked at an early age and began performing on vocals and guitar in the mid sixties. After half a dozen years in various folk and rock bands he started writing his own songs and playing fulltime in the early seventies. Shreve played in various groups around Lafayette, LA during an era that saw the emergence of Cajun-influenced bands such as Beausoleil, Zachary Richard, Sonny Landreth, and Shreve's long-time project, the Red Beans and Rice Revue.

During the eighties and early nineties Tommy performed and recorded with a who's who of Louisiana talent: Zachary Richard, Wayne Toups, Rockin' Sidney, Little Queenie (aka Leigh Harris) G.G. Shinn, and T.K. Hulin. His ability to consistantly deliver tasty and powerful guitar chops carried him on many international tours, two appearances on NBC's Tonight Show, and dozens of shows with Jimmy Buffett. One New York critic called him "the Cajun Clapton". His voice has often been likened to Robert Cray.

Two years as guitar-slinger for a theatrical production saw him tour Japan, America, and Barcelona Spain ('92 Olympics) with a musical comedy troupe.
Since the early nineties Shreve has lived and performed with his own band in the Colorado ski country areas of Breckenridge, Keystone, Copper Mountain, Vail, Beaver Creek, and Aspen. His blend of originals and classic covers of sixties gems, blues, jazz, and Louisiana R&B keeps his band busy serving corporate events, weddings, festivals, and concerts in his adopted mountain home.

The Tommy Shreve Band Versatility
Tommy's guitar work is of such fine quality, he is able to provide an excellent "full" sound with just two backing musicians, however, he adds a saxophone player and also a keyboard player when budget allows. He is a fine DJ and many times will offer an extra hour of DJ music to "sweeten the pot". This allows an unlimited variety of music at his shows. Call for a custom packaged quote to fit your needs.
